Hydrogeological model

Context

Development of a conceptual hydrogeological model of a mine in Moatize, a city in the province of Tete in Mozambique.

Methodology performed

Para o desenvolvimento do modelo hidrogeológico conceitual foi providenciada a compilação dos dados geológicos e hidrogeológicos existentes, a análise e interpretação de informações dos instrumentos de monitoramento instalados no local (piezômetros, INA’s e poços tubulares), a análise de ensaios geofísicos (eletrorresistividade), bem como a análise de ensaios para a definição das características hidrodinâmicas dos aquíferos (bail test, slug test), testes de bombeamento e testes de aquíferos), dentre outras providências.

Results

This work allowed the characterization of the underground water dynamics and its geometry as well as the configuration of the aquifer units, recharge and discharge zones, the vulnerability of these hydrogeological systems to possible contaminants, and the water availability inherent to the project in question and some adjacent areas.
